    What are the cultures of diversity found in your community, and how can you incorporate the different types of diversity from your community into your classroom.

    Question: As an early childhood educator, how do I handle the parent (s) that do not want their children participating in a Level IV activity on Bank's Levels of Integration of Multicultural Content? They would prefer their child to participate in activities that are more Level I.

    Fact: The Antibias Approach proposes to eliminate the sources of stereotypes. This approach is used in early childhood education, and it really surprised me that children that small are actually learning stereotypes.

    Fact: The terms approach and model are often used interchangably in education. Essentially, they indicate what a teacher does to orient, organize, and deliver the curriculum.

    Models of multicultural education are of two types: those developed through an analysis of existing experiences derived from classroom practices and those that are based on specific approaches of theories.

    Question: Which of the five Sleeter and Grant approaches do you prefer?

    Fact: Communication must be incorporated into the process of [this] approach if it is to be successful.
    I though this fact was important, not only about the Decision Making and Social Action Approaches, but in daily classroom activities.

    Fact: Cultural contributions are those cultural details currently defining a culture and the events or actions that either made lasting changes or that dramatically affected the culture.(p210)

    Question: With the models being guidelines to follow, what kind of ideas would you take from these models and form your own approach?

    Fact: According to James Banks, multicultural education is an idea and a process based on the premise that all students, despite their backgrounds, should have equal educational opportunities.

    Question: How can teachers get students to show respect and acceptance to students from other cultures? What do you do if a student if being picked on for having a different cultural background?

Single-group studies. 4. Multicultural education. 5. Education that is multicultural and social reconstructionist.
