    Question: Why is discrimination passed onto our children?

    Fact: The U.S. Census Bureau projects that by the year 2050, there will be 392 million people in the United States...Latino's are expected to become the largest minority.

  4. Question: With diversity comes sterotypes and racism, so how would you suggest dealing with parents and possibly students who are not "embracing" multiculturalism?

    Fact: Our communities, schools, and workplaces now reflect the new cultural environment.

  5. Question:If cultural diversity is not a new phenomenon, then why is their still not a way for all cultures to live together with acceptance of one another?

    Fact: The first settlers shaped the culture of this land (the United States) in the early 17th century causing many positive cultural trends however, their values and social ethics define a system of discrimination and persecution that remains in place today.

    Question: How are we as teachers, supposed to include all students, including ones with multicultural backgrounds, without leaving other students out?

    Fact: Every American, with the exception of Native Americans, were once immigrants.

  12. Question: If we are all from different countries and have different heritages, then why is there so much racism in this country?

    Fact: There were 6.8 million who identified their heritage as multiracial in census 2000.

  13. Question: On page 32 it says you '...cannot isolate activities from the social and cultural frame-work of the child', so if you have a very diverse class how should you incorporate all of their cultures?

  15. Question: Most Americans are descended from immigrants; why is it that some Americans (typically of European descent) act like immigrants from other continents have no right to enter the country?

    Question: How can we as encourage the students to want to learn about there ethnicity, and the struggles that there family has endured?

  25. Question: How do we as teachers teach that just because someone may look, act, and speak differantly does not mean that they are in the wrong or bad just because there differant, when some children are brought up within an enviroment that tells them other wise?

    Fact: Statistics show that in the past decade, unlike in earlier times, many of the recent immigrants are white collar proffessionals in the medical and health care proffessions.

  27. Question: What does a teacher do to make American born heritage students feel included if they in turn make it a poin tto include any student from another culture? Not all of our students will be from another country or any of their immediate family either for that matter.

    Quote: Latin Americans are projected to surpass Afro-Americans as the largets minority in The United States in 2010.

    Fact: Projections tell us that by 2050, 21 percent of the population will be of mixed race origins. Given this trend, the number of young children with multiracial heritage in early childhood classrooms is expected to rise dramatically.     Question-Why were other immagrants used as slaves?

    Fact- Hispanic population increased by 58% making it the largest minority group surpassing African American by One Million.

    Fact: Amerasian Homecoming Act- allowed 75,000 Amerasians and their families to come to the United States. Amerasians are individuals born of Viatnamese mothers and U.S. service members stationed in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
