Post your questions for me to answer about the cultural, insitutional, and individual sexism in the movie here. Also, post any thoughts or comments here too.
What an awesome movie!!! The story of Alice Paul, NAWSA, and NWP was all new to me and this really opened my eyes to the hardships encountered throughout this process and I hope to never take my right as a woman to vote for granted again!!!!!!
Does the journal reflection have to be a certain length? One page, two pages...something like that? The movie was amazing, by the way. I have to finish it tomorrow though because I had to leave for my other class.
Someone accidently checked out the video from the library so I was not able to finish it this morning...The librarian said she is trying to get it back. I think she said she was going to email you to let you know? A few others have this problem, too, i think because she said a few had already came and left.
WOW what an amazing movie I though I knew about the struggle for the right to vote but I had no idea. I am a movie person and I dont even remember this comming out or I would have gone to it or rented it then.
I want these to be detailed, formal journals. Think of them as an essay. They should be longer than one or two pages. If you have questions about the ISEEI format, please let me know. I think this video is a powerful video to observe the "ism" at all three levels, and you see how good change agents and leaders handle the "ism." You must fight the injustices! Tolerance is not tolerance when you just let the "isms" to continue; that is something else then.
Also, go to The Center for Academic Support and review your papers for any grammar errors there and with your peers. I count off for those errors, so spend some time on these papers.
I was very impressed by the movie. It makes me proud to know the sacrafices the women made for us. It really shows how we take so many things for granted.
I agree Lennie! We also still have fights at the institutional level in 2009. These women fought the "ism" the right way. They went through the hoops and broke no laws. They were peaceful in their protests.

ReplyDeleteI was amazed when I saw this movie and disappointed I had never learned about Alice Paul and Lucy before in my history classes.
ReplyDeleteBrooke,
ReplyDeleteA group was already watching it upstairs, so there was some confusion. Just try again please!
